Bert: Hi SS, the test server last night only had the Hlden and Nissan. Is there a problem with the ford?
SmellySkidmark: Yes there's a problem putting them on the server because FVR have done it with 2 updates, however the server will only let you do 1 update to a file (rfcmp). So we're waiting for them to sort this out. How do you like the mod?
Bert: Haven't had much time to test them as my single player crashes. So last night was the first opportunity. Not sure what brand to go for this year either. Looking to do some testing tonight. Thx for putting up a server

i was wondering if there was a way of veiwing replay files independent of rfactor,

i would like to be able to review replays of races with out having to quit the current session (so i can look at other peoples lines etc and maybe learn how to race better so im not at the rear end all the time)

if anyone know of software that enables me to do the please let me know

I've been wanting this for some time, not just as a learning tool but for my entertainment too. I want to run it on a separate computer but you want to see it while you're in-game, so two totally different solutions are required. I wonder if its possible to make an add-on that lets you view it on the in-game monitor.

A separate viewer isn't really practical for me because the replay files are very small compared to files in normal video format and I think the replay fridge uses the data in the file to tell the rfactor engine what happened so it can regenerate the images. If that's true then surely the viewer would have to contain the same tracks and mods as the replay you want to watch used. ISI would have to make the viewer and it would be almost as large and complicated as rfactor-lite, which my laptop won't run anyway.

As for the learning purpose you had in mind, you only need to watch(in the view you use when you drive) one of the fast guys do a hot lap in a practice session. Don't try to brake in the same place as they do, just start off braking earlier but not too much, take notice of their entry speed, the gear they use, where they turn in, the speed they maintain and where they start to accelerate, for each corner. Then get out and try to copy it while its fresh in your mind.

These days I still have to learn some tracks that way, e.g. Melbourne, I was 6 seconds off the pace before I watched someone do a good lap.

A quick google search yeilded this, which looks quite promising. www.rfactorlive.co.uk/main.php?page=doc

edit: actually, looking at the screenshots, it's probably not quite what you're after.

The only way I know of viewing replays is through the replay fridge in game. You can in the in game settings change the length of time that the live replay shows. Default is 20seconds I think. When watching the live replay you can press the left and right arrow keys to rewind or fastforward the replay.

Hope that helps a little.

Hi all

Thanks for the reply,
it dose seam that the only way of seeing a reply is through the replay fridge, as from what i saw on the page that porky had seen, was that you need the mod, track etc installed in rfactor to see the replay,

i have been using rfvcrmerge to compare laps and would have liked to be able to review that between races etc

never mindwill keep working on improving,

btw any time you see me on the server feel free to give me hints and tips etc,

I have never used the rfVCRmerge so I don't know anything about it, but I was looking at the addon at RFC and I quote

Version 1.3 update: Now able to merge together laps from different mods.

So I'm guessing that what your wanting to do with merging different races together can be done.

nib

what i would have liked to do, was to say on monday night after race 1, run the rfvcrmerge, then have a look at it while your seting grid etc and maybe learn something at the same time, but to do so i would have to leave the game, which upsets the grid etc,

its not a big issue, if i could have would have been nice, but as we found out the way rfactor works its not possible

ah..ok

Do you have more than 1 PC? If you do the you could grab the file from your race rig and put it in the other one and still view it while waiting.

install another copy of rfactor lite with the same mod on it also and then copy the folders over and open them in that copy and then switch between the 2. providing ur pc lets u run the 2 of them at once.
