U NeeK created the topic: Looking to buy G25 Steerring Wheel Set or Similar
Hey guys,
I'm trying to find a G25 steering wheel set or something similar for rfactor but I hear it has been discontinued. Although, some dicksmith stores still do sell the G25s, they are charging $325 at the least n my budget for this sorta thing was $250 (inclusive of postage). I'm not sure if I'm seemin like a tightarse for having such a budget, but I jus upgraded my computer and have got a limit for gaming acc. spending at the moment.
I wanted to ask on the forums first, to see if anyone has an old steering wheel set they would like to sell or know where I could buy one from, because I prefer to use ebay as a last resort (have heard some dodgey stories which kinda put me off) and would rather buy one from a trusted member compared to the utter randoms on ebay.
So, if anyone is willing to sell one or knows someone/where that could, please let me know.
Thanks, U Neek

I paid $250(incl postage) for my brand-new g25 on ebay a couple of years ago. I've bought a lot of stuff on ebay, particularly go-kart parts and equipment and I've never been ripped off. All sellers have a rating on how trustworthy they are so you can be assured a trusted seller won't jeopardise his rating by giving anyone a sour deal or poor service.
The Logitech Driving Force Pro 900 is a good wheel and cheaper, but not recommended if 2nd hand. Its roughly equivilent to the Momo that Gavin mentioned. I'm sure you'll be able to find a g25, and you may even find a g27 in your price-range.

I bought mine off EBAY also and had no problems but it is getting harder to find them cheap, I paid $215 for mine but havent seen them under $300 for a while.

Soz that last post probably didnt help
I was at Gerry's place (Harvey Norman) on Saturday checking TV's and I noticed 2 G25's for sale on the Shelf - Brand New (around $300 I think?)
The G27 is more but only because its newer - Not that much better.
If you love you gaming, your racing and have the Cash the G25 is the best wheel that you can buy for the money. The store I saw it in was Southland in Melbourne. If you cant find it anywhere you could always get them to transfer it.
Good Luck man

U NeeK replied the topic: Desktop vs Rig Set Up
Alright, thanks for your input guys
Looks like my faith in eBay is well placed, I won an auction for a used G25 steering wheel set for $220 and will hopefully be picking it up soon.
Whilst, I will now have the proper steering wheel to play rfactor with, a lack of foresight on my part and some advice from Rims has me wondering if I will actually need to get a rig to mount it on (haha what type of game i'm gettin into lol?). While, I thought I had barely enough room for the G25, it now appears I need to make room for a metal constuction in my room (if I had a set 4 wheels lying around, I'd bet my family would be thinkin I am building my own makeshift car).
But apparently, I have heard there are some alternate substitutes such as the use of clamps, straps, chocks and such, or even starting your own DIY project.
While I would prefer the convinence of clamps on chocks, I still wouldn't mind trying to get a rig, if it presented a real benefit over a simple desktop mounted set up.
So, who better to ask than the racing gurus themselves. Please let me know what you think and what sort of set up you are using.
Thanks, from U NeeK
Btw, it took me a while to figure out that a free moving wheeie chair and foot pedals, isnt going work that well together

Nice work in getting the G25 you will love it.
I recommend taking your time in getting a rig. There will be no doubt that you will enjoy racing with us but then again you may not enjoy the racing game. My wheel is just clamped onto my desk and I use a normal office chair with wheels
I put carpet under the wheels and the chair doesn't move much. So I only have a basic rig but it works for me.
If you find you really enjoy your racing and want to take the immersion to another level I recommend checking out this site the wayiplay.com The site is devoted to people showing the way they play and how to do it. You can get heaps of ideas from there.
Here is a link to a thread where you can get free plans for a DIY rig DIY Plans and purchase the hardware if you like.
Like I said take your time in finding what will suit your budget and space requirements.

i am just using the wheel on the desktop with a chair on wheels and dont have much trouble with it moving around. Check out the site
thewayiplay.com/
for some inspiration and you will find a rig can be as simple or as elaborate as you want to make it.
